Dr. Vladimir Tyutyuryukov Joins the Central Asian Tax Research Center

February 2, 2011

The recent launch of KIMEP's new Central Asian Tax Research Center (CATRC) has already begun to pay dividends.  Vladimir Tyutyuryukov, Ph.D., a leading Russian academic and tax professional, has come to KIMEP as an adjunct professor in the Law School and as an advisor to CATRC.

Dr. Tyutyuryukov began his career in 2002 as an assistant in the tax department of Russia's largest power company, analyzing draft legislation, offering tax consultancy for subsidiaries and conducting tax accounting. This invaluable experience eventually led him to pursue a Ph.D. at prestigious Russian State Tax Academy (VGNA).

As he began his post-graduate studies, Dr. Tyutyuryukov joined the Faculty of Finance and Economics of VGNA as a lecturer. He also spent this time as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte & Touche, performing various tax projects for large Russian and international companies. While he mainly focused on projects for energy and resource companies, Dr. Tyutyuryukov conducted tax review, advised on corporate restructuring and led in-house seminars and roundtables for clients. He also offered consulting on cross border transactions, transfer pricing and general tax and tax accounting issues.

Dr. Tyutyuryukov has published nearly 30 articles on tax and economics in Russia and abroad, some of them re-published in the Russian legal information systems.  He is also the author of the university textbook International Standards of Audit. He regularly participates in international conferences on taxation and is a member of the International Fiscal Association.

Dr. Tyutyuryukov's research interests include corporate taxation, international taxation and transfer pricing. He is a significant addition to KIMEP's faculty, and we hope he enjoys his time in Kazakhstan.
