Summer School in Austria 2011

International Tax Law Summer School in Austria, 2011

Being a member of Central Asian Tax Research center gave me a unique opportunity to attend International Tax Law Summer School 2011 in Vienna, Austria. It was held from July, 18th to 22th, 2011 at the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business).

The school was organized by the Institute for the Austrian and International Tax Law. The program consisted of a week of intensive work on scientific topics, provided by professors and experienced research associates. Such topics as the practice of double tax treaties and European tax law were covered by lectures. 30 students from Central Eastern European countries area had a chance to practice their knowledge in the sphere of taxation.

Besides lectures, participants had an intensive social program. They were invited by business partners of Institute to their premises and to unique places in Vienna. On one of the evenings, participants went to dinner

reception of LeitnerLeitner and had a guided tour at the Ernst Fuchs Villa followed by flying dinner. They also were invited to dinner reception of PwC at a Viennese “Heurigen” and to dinner reception of TPA Horwath in Prater.

What I liked the most about summer school is an opportunity to improve my knowledge in taxation together with other students highly interested in the same sphere as I do. I liked the organization of the school, lectures and social program, which made us to be busy from the early morning to the late evenings. I will always cherish memories about the time spent in Vienna.
