DESCRIPTION: The objective of the conference is to study, compare and comment on the fiscal regimes applicable to the extraction of mineral resources in the Central Asian region. Conference will allow the exchange of knowledge and information between professionals and use this opportunity for comparative analyses of national tax systems from the perspective of oil, gas, and mining companies. Service sector has been increasing and occupying the economy significantly all over the world. Stable GDP growth in Kazakhstan accompanied by higher rate of growth in service sector assures new and wider ways of taxation to the government.
Taxation is a challenge for any business. The round table will allow participants to learn what exactly the tax challenges to service industries are and how they can be dealt efficiently.

"Business Location Austria" Forum
For the first time the business location Austria presents itself to the Kazakh business community in the “Austrian Business Forum” on 19 September in Almaty, Royal Tulip Hotel. Austria is a small country in the heart of Europe – and also serving as financial, economic and cultural heart of Europe. The purpose of the upcoming event is to familiarize Kazakh entrepreneurs with the opportunities that Austria can offer to them as a location for entering foreign markets and positioning their global investments. Legal, financial, administrative and all other aspects of setting up business in Austria are being presented to interested Kazakh company representatives by Austrian experts from the Austrian Embassy–Commercial Section, the national Austrian investment agency ABA-Invest in Austria, the Vienna Business Agency, Kazakh ATF Bank and Austrian Schoellerbank as well as Wolf Theiss Attorneys at Law and TMF Group. 2nd Adriatic International Tax Round-table

First International Tax Summer School in Central Asia organized by CATRC in Almaty
Almaty, May 19, 2012 - Central Asian Tax Research Center (CATRC) – an academic unit of KIMEP University is organizing jointly with its partners the first International Tax Summer School in Almaty, Kazakhstan, during August 13-19, 2012. The Summer School is organized with the support of International Fiscal Association, International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation and International Tax Center. Internationally well-known and recognized tax experts and professional lecturers from IBFD were invited by Prof. Tomas Balco (Associate Professor at School of Law at KIMEP University, Director at CATRC) to jointly conduct this unique educational event. The guest lecturers will include among others: Edwin Vanderbruggen (Partner at VDB Loi, Singapore), Erki Uustalu (Counsel at PwC, Estonia) and Vladimir Tyutyuryukov (Assistant Professor of KIMEP University, Deputy Director of CATRC). Other experts and practitioners from Central Asia will also provide inputs and share their experience during this event. “This idea of Summer School came from our student and CATRC researchers – Karina Muratova – who participated last year on a similar event organized by Institute of Austrian and International Tax Law in Vienna and this year suggested that we organize something similar in Almaty,” said Tomas Balco, Director of CATRC. This one-week long event is designed to bring together young and mid-career international tax specialists from Central Asia seeking to advance their technical knowledge, obtain new practical ideas and expand their professional network. The event is open to interested participants and special effort is made to bring specialists from different Central Asian countries. Some of them will be even financially supported by the organizers to participate on the event. The program incorporates practical aspects of international taxation focused on both inbound and outbound transactions with focus on effective solutions and relevance to Central Asian countries and practitioners. 9th KIMEP International Conference (KIRC)
Dear all, Central Asian Tax Research Center (CATRC) cordially invites you to Special Session on Taxation on 19 April 2012 at 16:00-18:00 in the framework of the 9th KIMEP International Conference (KIRC). The general topic of KIRC is “Central Asia: Regionalization vs. Globalization”. It will be the 4th CATRC’s participation in KIRC. CATRC’s research assistants and KIMEP students will present on a number of tax-related issues of the region, including developments in cross-border activities, electronic commerce, use of special economic zones and implications of Dodd-Frank Act on tax reporting, as well as development of tax consulting profession. Description of the event and program outline is attached. The Special Session is organized with a purpose to carry out comparative research in the region on selected topics, to explore and analyse the similarities and unique features employed by various countries. It will provide an opportunity for companies to find future valuable and knowledgeable employees as students will make a deep research and present the issue and their proficiency in this sphere. Spain-Kazakhstan Tax Forum 2012
Year: 2012. Date: February 8. First Round: Almaty, Kazakhstan. Second Round: Madrid, Spain. Partners: Univesidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Working Language: English. “Spain-Kazakhstan Tax Forum” is a bilateral Forum between Kazakhstan and Spain, organized by the Central Asia Tax Research Center (CATRC), KIMEP and in a close cooperation with International Fiscal Association, American Chamber of Commerce and Association of Kazakhstani Taxpayers. The main aim of the event is to hold a comparative research within two rounds, where the students and tax experts would jointly study the key features of tax systems and international tax provisions of both countries. Also, they would explore and analyze various tax aspects and concepts similar to two tax systems and build grounds for further cooperation in research findings. |
